Sagittal Split Ramus Osteotomy

Just got my insurance letter and apparently surgeon submitted for a SSRO, not a BSSO like I assumed. I have a deep bite/overjet. What indicates a SSRO over a BSSO? What are the risks vs. a BSSO?  I can’t find much literature on this. One of the journal articles I did find stated that the SSRO procedure was the most common orthognathic surgery performed. I find this hard to believe considering I can’t find much else on it.

He could be using the term interchangeably.

I got confused too simply because there is a surgery that makes a cut to ramus. But it's looking more likely that BSSO is used interchangeably with SSRO.
