Title: What is wrong with my face?
Post by: tim06 on August 10, 2017, 01:00:10 PM
What is wrong with my face? I already got a rhinplasty and a sliding genioplasty with 11mm advancement. My mouth is very unsymmetrical and my whole face just looks off, here are two pictures: http://imgur.com/a/LzAwQ

Any ideas what to do? I have class 1 occlusion.

Looks like you have some asymmetry. Maybe a cant. FTR I dont think its a big deal and I personally would not have surgery to fix it.

Being that I cannot see your dentition it looks like a soft tissue thing.  Some asymmetry is fine.  I think you look good.

I believe that's what's known as a "yaw". Showing your teeth and a straight photo would help.

Only surgery can correct a yaw, and I seem to remember it being difficult to correct.

I guess it is more like a soft tissue issue, I visited multiple maxillofacial surgeons and they never mentioned something like this.

To me, it's that you have a very tall upper third of the face and a short lower third:

Yeah that is 100% correct, when you view my profile it is even more obvious. My cranium is much to high and my lower third is recessed, even after the genioplasty. However there are no surgeries I know of which could reduce the height of your cranium, and adding 10 mm in height to the mandible will most likely also look off.

Lowering the hairline would likely help.

I agree, I would not do a thing.
Many guys and women here are very good looking and I don't understand why they seek surgery if they don't have any functional problems... Surgery can really get your life effed up unfortunately...

Well it is really hurting me in my everyday social life. With the previous surgeries it already improved, leading me to the hope that further fixing my flaws will result in an equal improvement.

Well of course you do what you want to do.
Good luck whatever you choose.

I have seen some B/A's from you in a german forum. I think you have improved very well by the genio but I dont know what the Rhino did. Only judging the pics, I dont believe that you need to fix the asymmetry. Your biggest problem is now your Hair/Hairline. You can take finasterid to stop hairloss.

His hairline seems just fine... No problem there either.
Have you googled "finasterid/propecia ruined my life".... pretty sad stories... Some men are quite brave if they eat those even after they have read what it can cause.

Lowering the hairline would substantially improve overall harmony in my opinion, finasteride won't achieve that.

You may consider some filler for your facial asymmetry, I got radiesse to lower one gonial angle and wider and center the chin, it worked quite well.

Your lower eyelids seem to droop a little and you lack volume below the eyes. Easiest go-to would be just getting filler. Implants + lower eyelid retraction repair may be ideal.

Hairline is the most important issue in my opinion, because it very much highlights the vertically deficient mandible as a result of its impact on overall harmony.

Also your skin is fairly bad.

I take it for 5 years and a lot of my friends too. Nobody has problems. You can find on the Internet every horrorstory refering to almost every drug or procedure. Check out the Studies and the odds. Especially a drug that you take for years... when they get suddenly problems the first thought is that it must caused by this drug although there are no causality. They blame this drug for their problems and write articles in the internet. So when you google then you get hard biased. Then you come up with your google storys in another forum and reinforce the bias for others.

When you have alopezia then the only proven drug that can stop the hairloss sustainable is finasterid. When the hair is gone you cant get it back with fin. Therefore it is crucial to take it when you still have your hair.

Dont get me wrong. Finasterid is no candy. Therefore you have to inform yourself first. Go to a few dermatologists and read the studies.

Finasteride ain't stopping my hairline creep but it certainly is taking several more years to progress than it did for my two brothers.

Hairline lowering makes absolutely sense in his case but why did nobody advice him zso and/or chin wing, nostril reduction, maybe a fat transfer and/or cheek augmentation with ha paste? ???

Recommending someone HA paste makes also the rest of your comment ridiculous

Look into fixing your skin, reddit skincareaddiction has some very good info. Hair transplant and perhaps very slightly lowering the hairline. Those are two pretty easy fixes and not that expensive in your case.

Pleaae tell me why you are against ha paste. Personally i prefer it to implants (medpor, silicone).

It is impossible to place it accurately and it is also very very hard to remove. And even if it was placed ok, it can't make up much volume and can move a lot over time.

A much better method is to use a bone graft of a deceased person, if I remember correct this method was invented by Dr. Sailor

I had the cartilage, I like it as a material, it has resorbed quite a lot so I wish there was someone else who offers it but the good thing is infection rate is low and it doesn't resorb the underlying bone like artificial implants.
Why do hardly  any surgeons use it seriously!!?? Who wants a face full of polyethylene!
