Title: Post genioplasty / jaw surgery: when do you start to look normal?
Post by: MyTimeIsNow on September 30, 2017, 09:16:10 AM
I've had surgery on thursday and the swelling is simply ridiculous. For those who went through jaw surgeries: at what point do you start looking semi-normal?

have not had it myself. but if you are in vicinity of where you got it, make sure they give you all post op protocol and are available to address immediate post op questions.

Im 2 months post op. I would say a month is when you start looking normal. You are still significantly swollen at that point(especially in the cheeks and around the lip/nose area) but most people wont notice. At 2 months I am starting to actually FEEL normal. I still have some cheek/lip swelling that fluctuates.

It is different for everyone though. I think my experience was more or less normal though based on reading a ton of blogs by other jaw surgery patients.

Mayor swelling is about a month and after that 6 months or more.
