Title: Craniofacial Osteotomies
Post by: Eroica on June 17, 2012, 06:30:43 AM
Here are the big ones:

Monobloc osteotomy - used to treat people with severe deficiencies of the midface and forehead. Involves the surgical seperation and advancement of the entire upper and midface.

Lefort III osteotomy - applicable in treating severe midface deficiencies, such as found in individuals with Crouzon syndrome

Needless to say, the results are often astounding.

Oh my god that's incredible.  Talk about invasive, but it's so amazing that people with that type of issue can finally walk around looking normal.  I feel guilty haha I bet either of them would have killed for most of our jaw issues rather than what they had.

Invasive is right. Blindness is a real risk when you advance the entire midfacial area outwards like this. The cuts are also close to major arteries. However, if I had such a major facial deformity, those would be risks I'd be willing to take in order to correct it.

Another impressive result:

Definitely.  I can't even imagine what it would be like to have such an underdeveloped skull.

How do I convince my surgeon to perform monobloc on me?

She looks better but she comes from very far. The better you look, the more difficult it becomes to make you look better.

Absolutely. Good looking people wanting to look like models are delusional.
