How to anticipate best result of surgery?

What is the best way to anticipate a good surgery result. Is a Cat scan always indicated pre-surgery?

1) Go see a board certified surgeon trained in jaw surgery and plastic surgery.   That is where it starts.   

    And,

2) "yes" any proper evaluation will always require some radiographs of various different sorts.
