What is your job/career, and how does your jaw issue effect it?

There are some careers where a jaw issue may have a negative effect on your success in said field. What has been your experience in your field?

Investment banking.  Stress on the job has only made my joint problems worse.  Giving pitches and presentations is more difficult than it should be due to my bad bite and pain.  Research and personal work is not much of a factor though.  Interesting topic.

Um yeah I can't smile anymore due to tmj.  I try and then it turns into this grimace.  Also my head feels like its going to explode from headaches

My job requires a lot of speaking in front of large audiences and stuff. I'm curious about how people who have had surgery already are able to speak/present/talk in public after surgery. I don't want to be compromised for too long.

yeah I had this concern too since I have to interview people in a public setting for work (I'm a reporter). I'm already trying to think of ways around it - take a friend to work, pretend to be working a camera while they speak instead of me? Errr elaborate miming? Typing questions on my phone and showing the screen to interviewees? Yep I'm screwed.

ill probably be working soon, within the next few months or so. my main concern is that i won't be able to interact with people without confusing them. i have been told i look "mad" or "intimidating" in repose, even though in my mind im not at all. i just can't help it because my muscles and nerves are regenerating. then, when i do express emotion, my face is all over the place. weird, half-stroke smile, etc.

oh god, and you're two months out, i'm am screwed...
