I had double jaw surgery 10 years ago for sleep apnea and my movements were very very large. 10 mm maxillary advance and 18 mm jaw advance with CCW rotation.
I didn't expect my nose to change at all, but the surgeon advanced my maxilla over my nasal spine, leaving my nose completely collapsed (I had a big convex nose before surgery, just like my family and I liked it that way).
The huge movements to my jaws + the collapse of my nose left me looking like a totally different person. People didn't recognise me after surgery and everyone thought I had rhinoplasty on top of my jaw surgery.
This has left me devastated, even 10 years later I haven't recovered from this trauma. Its like I feel we are 2 different people, and everything I have accomplished in the last 10 years, wasn't done my me. IDK if anyone else has this feeling.
Well the thing is that I feel like I should have done rhinoplasty after my DJS to 'recover' my previous nose and look a bit more like myself. I was very scared that the rhinoplasty didn't go well and I ended up looking like a third version, instead of feeling more like my original self. I consulted some surgeons but never decided to do it.
Basically the tip of my nose is completely collapsed and I have almost no nasolabial angle. Making my jaws look even more prominent. Also I had a hump on my dorsum which disappeared leaving me with a flat, collapsed nose.
I would like to feel more like my original self, just me with my jaws forward (I had very retruded jaws to begin with but the movements made by my surgeon were just savage in my opinion, I never expected such a huge change).
I have been reading on the internet and I believe I would need rib grafts to achieve what I want. I basically want my nose looking as much as possible as my original nose. Having my original nasolabial angle and my hump on the dorsum. I can't seem to find any people on the internet with my same problem.
The most similar cases I have found is cleft lip and palate noses which are collapsed, or asian people that had augmentation surgery. But I am not sure if this is a common surgery in Europe, which is were I live. I uploaded a case I found of the internet of a man with kid of similar nose of what I have.
Can anyone help me please? Do you know anyone that had this kind of problem? Do you know any good surgeon that has a lot of experience with augmentation rhinoplasty?
