How do you correct a narrow jaw?
« on: July 22, 2014, 04:10:14 AM »
I suffer with a narrow/slim jaw which I think affects the balance of my face. Ive tried doing some research on a procedure that would allow me to widen my jaw, but haven't came across a definitive answer?

If anyone you could offer some solutions it would be appreciated, thanks

Lower jaw: Distraction osteogenesis (DO), rare
Upper jaw: Surgical assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE), quite common

Chin-Wing genioplasty, Jaw Implants can both increase bilateral width of the mandible, although in a limited degree and would probably look weird as f**k with narrow dental palates.

Best wishes

And you cant just expand the upper jaw if both jaws are narrow, right?

So if they want, they can expand both jaws during puberty, but after sutures are fused then they can only expand the upper jaw and only a bit. Is that right?
