How much of a roll would having only 24 teeth play in the stability and longevity of maxillomandbulr advancement. I had premolars extracted, and then wisdom teeth extracted when I was in my early 20's. I already have spaces in the back of my dental arch from where my teeth would have been; even though my mouth is already very small and my maxilla/mandible are very recessed.
It seems advancement would make this space that much greater, but how stable is it? Does bone re-absorption occur over time when there are no teeth there to support it? I have heard of re-opening extraction spaces, but I really don't want to go down that route.
