There is a good explanation for the two way lengthening here:

Good images. The first dude is what I'd say I look similar to except my chin is different, but the position is kinda the same. His result is pretty good as well.

On the last pic also there's very good improvement regarding the mentolabial fold

I just don't see how lengthening the chin can do anything but make the mentolabial fold worse.

Increasing the height of the chin, will reduce the the depth of the fold and make it more flat. Sliding the chin forward will increase the depth of the fold

That's what I was saying in another thread. I've read numerous pages where surgeons explain that lengthening of the chin has this positive effect on the fold. I reckon TS could get both height as well as projection added.

There's a Genioplasty technique created by Triaca that I can't get more info about.

Chin shield osteotomy -- a new genioplasty technique avoiding a deep mento-labial fold in order to increase the labial competence.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19640681

On this paper, wich is open access, we can see some differences between the techniques

I might show this to my surgeon lol. But he might already know about it as we discussed the whole mentolabial fold thing and he assured me it can get much better than it is now
