@Plosko - best as in the most competent. I know that there are risks with any surgeons but there are definitely surgeons who are better like the top 1%.

They have more experience and because of this, surgeries would most likely go smoother no?

The more surgeries, the better.  (Although, who knows, when a surgeon does too many, he may simply stop caring and become sloppy).

However, what I really meant was that even so-called top surgeons do not do every procedure under the sun.  For example, while the chin wing is one awesome procedure, even top American surgeons don't do it.  You can only have it done in Europe.  (FWIW, my gut feeling is that in general Euro max facs are more cutting edge).

OK does more expensive always means better :) ?

I have to choose between 2 surgeons ;)  Both have good opinions. But one is 3x times more expensive then other . Both have almost the same surgical plan and almost the same risk calculations ;)

One user here told me that, France has shurely some good maxfac surgeons. Its the root of craniofacial surgery in the whole world.

Have you heard about some very good maxfac surgeons from France. ?

Tessier pioneered the le fort iii and much of craniifacial surgery.  He passed away more than 5 years ago.  Look up who studied under him, coauthored papers with him.

Thx. I tried. It's hard to find something. Most researches he had much earlier. In France in 40' 50' 60' then he went to America....
Many surgeons only just reference to his publications, nothing more.

Perhaps someone can help me in searching ;)

Perhaps you should search for good craniofacial surgeons as well, not just max facs.

any tips on how I should go about and contacting Obwesseger? It seems like he doesn't really reply to emails, and I'd like to say the right things so that we could communicate.

Also, if you want to get surgery overseas, do you have to fly there and have a consult or can you just send all the information and then go once for a surgery?

Get his another mail adress from here: http://www.eurofaces.com/index.php?id=55
He uses about 3 addresses. Another option is to phone his secretary. Use Google to find where he actually works

Keep in mind also he is very busy (however I used to wait for answers no more than 2-3 days)

Ooops wait a minute we have Hugo and Joachim ??? You mean probably Joachim ?

Hugo is Joachim's uncle.  He petty much invented modern jaw surgery.  He'd be too old to operate now.

So I'm assuming that Joachim is still in action?

Should I hold of emailing him until I get a ceph/CT Scan etc?

Yes, he is still working.
Personally, I wouldn't bother anyone without the above.
