TMJ Complications After Jaw Surgery
« on: April 09, 2016, 08:18:28 AM »
Hi all,

Kind of curious here. Did anyone have TMJ complications after surgery? Did you have issues before or no?

I'm a year out and my doctor said I have overloaded discs and I'm grinding my teeth at night. I'm wearing a custom fitted night guard now to prevent this (which was probably caused by s**tty orthodontics and some condylar resorption).

Clicking and popping and some pain on the left side--never had any issues before.

Trying to see if it's common. Research says yes.

what exactly mechanism causes TMJD in your case ?

I have TMJD (not typical) after zygomatic bone reposition - no issues before - even no single symptom

in my case it's compressed disc or some problem with muscles
do you have constantly deviated jaw postop ?

I am having the same problem, I had really bad tmj before surgery, after surgery I was ok but after having my braces removed 2 weeks ago I'm experiencing pain, only on the left side

OK I finally I think i got the proper diagnosis
I've been examined for 2-3 months by many specialists, and noone was sure about my postop condition. Too much possibilities
even MRI does not shows problem clearly

but..... something changed , I think

I have compressed disc due to surgery

I got proper splint too late.. It's now 5th month after surgery

I've been wearing my splint  for one day and night and I have a bit milder symptoms as far

but I got it too late. My surgeon should have recognised the problem in postop care and he failed
now regardless milder symptoms, the disc may not return to its normal shape / condition :(

Anyone knows about chances for my disc after 5 months of compression ?
I was told by one specialist it's too late.. I should have got it within month after surgery

as far nothing has changed...

the jaw is still deviated
