yup, my friend had a three piece lefort on 7/13 and never had a splint. seems to be chugging right along.

Not sure, the maxilla needs to heal. Even if there is a bone graft from the hip it still needs a splint for atleast a month. Generally accepted

The main purpose of the splint is to prevent the segments from relapsing expansion I think. The segments are still fixed with the plates. Some surgeons graft the osteotomy, maybe that's enough to avoid the splint?
