Information on 4-piece Lefort?
« on: September 23, 2016, 03:16:11 PM »
Dr. Gunson recommended that he perform a four-piece Lefort on me to address a crossbite and get maxillary expansion.  He described that one vertical incision would be between the two front teeth, with two additional vertical incisions near the area behind each canine tooth.  The midline incision would not go all the way on the maxilla.  And then, of course, there would be the horizontal Lefort incision.  Based on the verbal description, I imagine vertical incisions to look like this from a cross-sectional view:

He also referred to this as an "H osteotomy" and as a "3-4-1-1 osteotomy."

Does anyone have any information on such a four piece Lefort?  I cannot readily find much online.   I will greatly appreciate any information.

Are four piece Leforts common?
