Please help me decide - concerns
« on: November 24, 2016, 09:51:34 AM »
I've been mulling over this jaw surgery thing for well over a year now.
On the one hand, when I'm feeling positive, I think it might make a really big impact on my self-image and happiness, but when I'm feeling down, all I can think about are the potential complications.

1 surgeon told me not to get bimax, another one (a plastic surgeon) told me I shouldnt either, but 2 other maxfacs said I'd benefit from it.

My main concerns are:
- It looks unnatural afterwards and that the human eye can tell something is 'off' subconsciously (I'm 50/50 on this one).
- I lose significant feeling or a nerve gets damaged. I had nasal surgery last year and its STILL stiff to this day, plus uncomfortable some of the time as well - the risks just get higher with bimax.
- My ratios look even WORSE post-op. Something just changes unexplainably in the face which makes it look uglier.
- I get rejected by the opposite sex more because they can tell I had a proceedure done.

I've mentioned it in passing but since I had nasal surgery, my experience with the opposite sex has been terrible, awful for the most part. I partly chalk this up to them being able to tell I had surgery which is a huge turn off (I'd imagine) for women. It changed my facial ratios and made my midface look longer, which is really bad since my maxilla is short (very short).

Can any guys tell me whether it helped your life in terms of social / work / dating / confidence or whether it made it worse?
