Impact of a Chin Wing on The Ramus
« on: April 23, 2017, 06:42:45 PM »
If a patients jaws are very narrow, much narrower than the zygoma or TMJ,  the ramus will be sloped inwards.  When a chin wing is performed, augmentation can be made such that the ramus appears longer via drop down.  However, if the mandible wing is made wider, while the ramus remains narrow, will that accentuate soft tissue around the ramus, ultimately making the patients face just look soft and fat ?

The mobilized border can be lowered, and the gaps filled with a bone subsitute for stability.
