What Not to do after Jaw Surgery?
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:50:49 PM »
Hi there!

Had lower jaw surgery

Doc told me: for 4 weeks:
- no running (too much 'shocks' tremors)
- don't bite anything, only eat stuff that you can eat without any chewing at all)
- don't blow your nose, don't sneeze
- no hotness (sauna, sunbathing)

What i forgot to ask:
- is working out ok? (push ups and stuff)
- is sex ok?

Thanks

ps
Yea, i know i will ask Doc on the next date, but it's in like 10 days

Had Underbite -> edit: i am a dummy, i mean overbite. Lower jaw was recessed, too far back
lower Jaw surgery, lower jaw was moved forward
BSSO, 2xVac, Vircy + Monocryl, intraop iv.
simple osteotomy

No.

Probably yes, except for oral.

Are you sure? That would mean the surgeon increased your underbite.

Thanks!

Yes, right i made mistake - overbite i mean!
Lower jaw was recessed, too far back

This is not important but i was just wondering of the reason why exercising is bad after a surgery. Because high blood pressure is bad when recovering from surgery?

Anyway, it seems like any sex that makes me move a lot and makes me sweat or something is also forbidden.

High bloodflow means more risk for bleeding and/or more swelling.
Why do you even want to exercise so soon after surgery? Just chill out for 8 weeks.

I am on Day 6 after the operation and i have a hard time falling asleep because of the pain.
Feels like my lower jaw is totally cramped.

I tried seractil and parkemed, both painkillers don't seem to work superwell. Still hurts, can't really feel when the painkillers start or stop working it seems.

I feel kinda sleepy in the day and my mind is not clear and i cannot sleep well, i thought my usual workout routine helps me be more clear in the day and better sleep at night.

Wondering about viagra.
I guess it's also a no-go, because more blood flow and stuff. Hm. For 4 weeks?

Have a prescription, but was too shy to ask female doc.
