Does selecting an Orthodontist matter much as far as what jaw procedure and methods
the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) will ultimately choose to do on you?
What I mean, if that didn't make any sense is, does
the Orthodontist have much contribution on what jaw medical
procedure you get? Or is all the Orthodontist doing is
slapping on the braces based on what the the OMFS chooses
to do with jaws?
It's been a f****** pain trying to find out all the
information on how to start this process while in the
military. What's all the more irritating, every person
seems to tell me something different about who I can and
can't see. I may have no alternative but to end up going to
the MTF (Military Treatment Facility) a couple hours away
if my referral I just got from my PCM (military doctor) to
Dr. Robert R---- gets declined and am forced to go to the
MTF.
The military treatment facilities OMFS Department told
me I'd have to bring in a report from a consult with an
Orthodontist before I could be seen at the MTF.
Fortunately, I can pick my own Orthodontist.
So, I'm meeting with 2 great Orthodontist's Arnett & Gunson
use. Yet, I’m wondering, am I squandering my time
trying to see an extraordinary Orthodontist hoping
that it will boost my chances in having a better jaw method
treatment plan and result?
Will seeing an incredible Orthodontist have any effect on
what type of jaw procedure that the OMFS ends up doing?
Like the distance/amount the OMFS will move my jaws or
which jaw he will choose to deal with or change, in view
of anything the Orthodontist suggests? Or is none of this
significant and seeing a standard and average Orthodontist
fine?
