I talked once to some Pharmacology professor. And he said, that general anesthesia in young years ( so until 50 or something) is pretty safe. I am also afraid of general anesthesia (I am afraid to be dumb after that, haha). You just have really to outweight the risks. I think dying is the less concern. I mean literally, it is unlikely that you will die and if you die, then yeah, you are dead, your friends and relatives have the problems, not you.
More important ist to have a good surgeon, so that outcome will satisfie you and you won't have any functional problems. ( I am not implying that your surgeon is bad, but that are just the main concerns in this situation.)
Maybe just give to your anesthetist some piece of chocolate, so he won't fall asleep during the surgery, haha. Because it is a really boring job.
