SARPE / Mandibular Mid Split Distraction

Anyone has had it and can report on aesthetic outcome of those surgerys?
Im in a position where my orthodontist offered me those procedures to widen my jaws before getting braces and having jaw surgery done. I will have to pay it on my own (about 2500€). Apparently its not neccessary for the orthodontic treatment in my case (decompensation). Is it worth having it done for aesthetic purpose?
I guess you can widen your jaw/smile by up to 1cm and create more room in the mouth (good for compensation?) but it also leads (or can lead?) to widening of the nose, which I dont know can be prohibited or corrected with the bimax later on. I did speak with a jaw surgeon about it, but he didnt seem to give my aesthetic concers alot of thought.

If you have already a narrow jaw, you could loose your V-shape by Mid-Split. Also it gives a load of stress on your jaw joint.
Why was it suggested, do you have proclined teeth, who is the surgeon if I may ask?
