Autoimmune diseases and metal plates
« on: December 18, 2020, 11:47:20 PM »
Hello!

I searched the forum but didn't find anything on this topic.

I have an autoimmune disease and had surgery 2 weeks ago. For me the ideal would be to remove the plates and screws but I don't know if that is common. When I asked the surgeon he told me that It's not necessary and that I should not worry.

Is any of you in the same situation ?

Thanks in advance

You can have them removed in six months if you want to.

Hi Sergio, thank you for your answer  :)

I'll ask my surgeon again but the last time he didn't seem very interested in it, although that time I didn't mention the autoimmune disease.

Is there a possibility that another surgeon would remove them in case this one does not want to ?

Also, can this be done with local anesthesia ? And would it be very expensive ?

Thanks!

I don't know if I want to experience another general anesthesia  :-\

But great to know that is not an expensive procedure and that any surgeon can do it.

Thank you Lefort 3000!
