Hi, you can read about my case and see my photos in my other post.

In preparation for the DJS I've been meeting surgeons in Warsaw. I would like to write about my experience with Konrad Walerzak - "the best jaw surgeon in Warsaw" (he's very popular, lots of great reviews, good-looking before-and-afters, and he's supposed to be aesthetically oriented). He's got a whole clinic (https://face-clinic.pl/)  with an ortho, periodontologist and teeth-reconstruction-and-TMJ-specialist.
I would like to see what you guys think about him, does he sound too old-school etc. It would really help me with making the final decision.

There are some photos of him on a couple of Annual Arnett Orthognathic Surgery Forums. He says that he admires Arnett and some other surgeon from South Africa (I don't remember the name).
He does CCW and CW movements.

He seems to scorn the pedantic, "made-up by orthodontists" measurments and norms like nosalabial angle etc. He stressed multiple times that people are too varied and nature too unpredictable/ chaotic for such over-analitic approach to work. He would say things like "in nature there is no perfectly straight line", "there is no equation for a perfect face" etc.
He wouldn't even tell me whether he thinks my maxilla is recessed; he would only say, that "due to the previous orthodontic treatment (camouflage with upper premolars extractions) I'm lacking in soft-tissue support and my upper jaw would have to be moved forward.". But he would not tell me whether my upper jaw is naturally recessed and whether it would be recessed even if I had decided not to undego the camouflage treatment in the past. But maybe it's my faulty approach to the whole thing?

The thing that really worries me is that he doesn't do any 2d-planning and he refused to make any (even rough) planning without my bite beeing ready for the operation. So I would have to undergo the orthodontic treatment first, and only afterwards would I know what the planned surgery was. He claims that based on his experience that's the only way that truly works and that gives predictible results.
I was able to make him say that "at first glance" I would need a 4-6mm mandible forward and 2-3mm maxilla forward movements with some kind of chin reduction, but he seemed to be irritated by my questions about the planned movements.

Finally the only thing that he could promise me is a correct bite; he wouldn't say anything with certainty about reducing my mentolabial fold, the chances of sleep apnea ("i could make your airways bigger, but that doesn't mean that they won't collapse during sleep") etc. It seems like a very sincere approach, but it left me feeling uncertain about the whole thing.

He said that during the 3d planning I could tell him about my wishes (aesthetic goals), but I don't know how that would look like in reality.

I will have anouther meeting with him soon; I will have some better questions prepared this time, so I will keep you posted.

Do you thing he sounds like a surgeon that understands the aesthetical side of surgery, or an old-school guy that would be perfectly satisfied with fixing my bite only? I would be really glad to read your opinions about the whole thing. :)
