Genioplasty instead of DJS (PICS INCLUDED)
« on: July 07, 2022, 08:17:56 AM »
My orthodontis ruined my surgical preparation, did regular camouflage treatment instead of surgical prep for DJS. I was told that it would be too risky to move back teeth so now my only option is genioplasty. I’ll still consult with Dr Ramieri next week to see what he says about my case.

Do you think genioplasty would still provide me with some positive results? Can it make me look at least average?

I dont think genio alone would bê good as your labiomental fold would increase. Maybe gênio+ some filler to the fold

How about chin wing or chin shield genioplasty?

Would have to be a very substantial SG to get the most out of it. The chin bone is quite steep so you do have a lot of leeway in terms of how much they could slide it forward though. Still, DJS would be the best option IMO, perhaps a second or more opinions are needed. Good luck.

I think you could have a sliding genio which would kick up improvement to the chin. There might not be enough 'bone space' to make a full chin wing cut without risk to the nerve. But that's something the chin wing doctor would need to look at in terms of how close the nerve would be to the cut. So, I'd say sliding genio; vertically up and horizontally outwards. Might increase the crease/groove between lower lip and chin but that's not a bad trade-off in X-change for the better balance the genio would give. Also, as mentioned on this string, those kind of grooves can be filled in with filler.
