Im now 5 months post op and have calmed down a little, enough to write this.

Went with MIrco Raffaini and was by the far the biggest mistake/choice I have made thus far in my life. Saw lots of red flags and just sad I didnt pull the plug.

My post op scan shows significant canting and yawing/deviation of both jaws and chin to one side. Severe step off angles from the surgery, inability to breathe correctly through my nose, twisted and torqued ramus from the fixation and just all around a really poor aesthetic horrible result that makes me look much much worse than I did before.

The issues post op. Was a simple class 2 case.

1 ) Canted upper and lower jaws by 4 degrees
2 ) lack of advancement
3 ) Aggressive CW of occlusal plan when I didnt request this. CW also has the effect of swinging jaws back.
4 ) step off angles and no bone grafts used
5 ) severe tightness of chin. Presumably an overtightened mentalis muscle thats now acting as pseudo lip incompetence when speaking.
6 ) Asyemtric torquing of ramus, left side now much wider than right.
7 ) Much worse breathing

I'll add some scans later on as i need to upload through imgur.

I did not expect perfection. But what I didn’t expect was to come out of surgery looking worse and with way more asymmetries and functional issues I had prior. “Don’t make me look worse” is a very low bar which I set to him.

I have signed myself off from his care and all my documents be released, as I just do not wish to deal with his gaslighting, and overall just his extremely erratic behaviour.

I have zero patience for someone supposedly this reputable acting like a petulant child in a 60 year old body.

As patients we are allowed to be a bit emotional. Post surgery we are emotional beings fraught with worry and pain etc, and around 7 weeks post op in a panic (completely justified after seeing my scan) I expressed a fairly polite straight to the point list of some worries and asymmetries I had post surgery.

This was prior to him strolling in 40mins late from when the clinic said he would be there.

He barges into the clinic ranting and raving at me, telling me it’s a perfect result he will not tolerate my criticism and behaviour and I’m wrong, Just overall extremely brutish and aggressive when I was sitting there very upset with what I know to be now 100% valid points.

Absolutely zero respect for my time at all after getting up at 4am to catch 2 trains to see him. I nearly missed my flight home after paying 600 euros to travel there to see him rip me to shreds and tell me it’s all in my head. It was quite frankly a nightmare experience. I spent 2 hrs in the taxi home crying.

I’m now in the process of seeing what can be done to correct this mess. Under no circumstances do I want to go back to him. I’m frankly scared of him at this point given his behaviour last time around. He is, just on a human level, one of the worst people I have ever come across in any medical setting. Actually the worst.

He’s in my opinion (based on my up front experience) sloppy, imprecise, a liar, doesn’t respect your time, doesn’t respect your delicate emotions (especially post surgery), doesn’t respect your opinion, often forgets basic things you discussed. These are the absolute basics we are talking about of a competent empathetic surgeon.

I also have a slight suspicion after talking to my friend who touches up photos that he's a habitual editor of pre and post op photos.

As I said will post pre and post scans, but much too upset to be posting post op clinical photos right now.
