Am I a good candidate for a sliding genioplasty?
« on: January 16, 2026, 01:10:21 AM »
My bite is fine but the lower third of my face looks bulky as compared to the rest of my skull, I’m 29 years old but look 18. Also have a really weak side profile, my concern is genioplasty might make my lower face look even bulkier and give me a more unpleasant look.

Editing this since I wasn’t able to post earlier:

Most people I meet tell me I look way younger than I am and my close friends have pointed out how my lower face, especially the area around my mouth looks really wide and bulky as compared to the rest of my face.

I’m also at 36% body fat currently, which is a lot but I still feel like people heavier than me have a more well defined look in their face, I look like I have really poor bone structure in my face, I’m not sure if a genioplasty will fix that for me, I just want to look normal and not feel so self conscious all the time.

I hoped as I grew older these insecurities will go away but sadly they haven’t.

If any of the moderators or anyone with some knowledge could give their 2 cents here I’ll be really grateful.

Have you consulted with a surgeon?

It looks like you'd need a setback surgery, but it's hard to say with just flesh photos. You should get a consultation and some cephs, or at least an x-ray.
Millimeters are miles on the face.
