Best way to fix a maxillary cant
« on: October 12, 2013, 08:40:23 AM »
I have a slight maxillary cant. I'm wondering if anyone here had some knowledge about it. I feel as though upper jaw surgery just to address a mild cant would be insane, so I want to know:

- Can a cant be fixed with the use of orthodontic temporary anchorage devices? (TADs)
- Would fixing my cant also fix my lip asymmetry (higher on one side than the other)?
- How would it be determined which side goes up or down? How can he know if one side has come down too much or if the problem is one side not coming down enough?
- aside from the possible changes in my lips what other aesthetic changes could occur?

It's not huge, of course. However it would give me a perfect bite.

Looks like TADs should be enough to fix my cant and lip asymmetry. I've seen some say this can be classified as 'experimental' orthodontic work. Any reason? Apparently patient compliance is also low. Something about the latex bands irritating them.
