Title: MAYO CLINIC? Dr. E. E. Keller?
Post by: Lazlo on January 29, 2013, 03:53:34 PM
Hi just wondering if anyone has had a consultation with Dr. Eugene E. Keller at the Mayo clinic in Minneapolis? I'm thinking of consulting with him in the late spring. He's one of the few experts who performs a number of less common
procedures such as the qudrangular lefort 1 osteotomy and others.

I know none of the current members have seen the Mayo Clinic but perhaps some of the newer members have or are considering visiting the mayo clinic. I hear that if anyone has the most advanced methods and equipment it's these guys...

Well if you thought the consultation fees you've been paying thus far are ridiculous here's a whole new pile of s**t for all of you to hear about. To have a consultation at the Mayo clinic (of any kind) you have to put in a $7000 deposit, yeah that's right SEVEN f**kING THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!  Whatever is not used up during the consultation (and obviously it's impossible that all of it would be, especially if you're bringing your own x-rays and mri's etc..) will be returned to you in 3 months. But seriously WTF!? I asked the secretary, well is that true even if you're just coming into the Mayo clinic to have a consultation about having a flu? And she said....yup. This was just a general mayo clinic appointments secretary, she couldn't tell me on average what the CONSULTATION actually costs, but what a f**king retarded policy.

What made you consider that place to begin with? Do they have some epic before/afters online for people to see?

No, but a surgeon there performs the "quadrangular lefort -1" operation without complications. It moves the zygoma/suborbital complex out and in theory would solve the whole suborbital weakness issue. Also the mayo clinic is known as one of the most state of the art facilities for any operation (I might be naive in thinking this...) so I thought it would be worth at least having another consult. If it was just a few hundred dollars then fine, but now I don't know with this whole deposit bulls**t. They say they'll return the balance of what is not used within 3 months, but I just want a guestimate of how much the consult itself costs for f**k's sake.

So, I've been debating heavily whether to go for a consult at mayo even though I'd have to put a 7 grand deposit (i've been told
the actual consult will be around 600 dollars). It's pretty much impossible for me to go through with having a consult there, but I'm really debating whether
I should make some sacrifices just to get a consult at the Mayo clinic because maybe they have some sort of advanced methods or something.

I have really no evidence to base this assessment on frankly. Does anyone know anyway to research the results of jaw surgery at the Mayo clinic?
The only thing that brought me there are these reports about the 'quadrangular lefort 1'. Also they have something like 7 maxillofacial surgeons on staff.
The doc who does the quadrangular lefort 1 is Dr. E. E. Keller and sounds like he has tons of experience. But I have no idea if they really have better technology
or anything.

I did see this though, they reconstructed this woman's jaw from her FIBULA!!!! I mean jesus, if they do stuff like that maybe they really do have more
advanced methods....  Pekay, you're a real detective, any info you can dig up about e. e. keller or the mayo clinic in rochester for jaw surgery?

Description: After this opera singer noticed something on her chin and asked her dentist to take an x-ray, they found an ossifying fibroma that had taken over all of her lower jaw. Susan Taborn needed to have her entire lower jaw and most of her bottom teeth removed. Mayo Clinic doctors and surgeons used her fibula to construct a new jaw. Susan now received a new set of bottom teeth, just in time for Christmas! Watch her inspiring story below:

HOLY s**t PEKAY!! You're like seriously the f**king sherlock holmes of the internet!! I mean I've been looking for E E Keller s**t for ages and never found anything. Also, now we have a clear view of what a f**king LEFORT 2 actually looks like. Very interesting! So the "quadrangular lefort 1" i mentioned is basically a lefort 2 but without moving the nose forward also.... it has improved the girl's suborbital region and cheekbones right? What do you guys think of this result? I mean try to assess it if you can being done on someone whose starting place was NOT so deficient, do you guys still think it could make a dramatic improvement?

In the result pekay posted, which looks like it was done in f**king 1984 lol, the after pic has the girl smiling a bit, clearly that raises her cheekbones et al. But what is really remarkable is how they completely cured her exorbitsm(her eyeballs used to bulge and protrude, so this is quite an amazing result!). It's like the whole soft tissue if you look at her profile pic is significantly enhanced. I wonder if any soft tissue work needed to be done or if this was all just a result of the lefort II? Lefort II's are the bomb!

well there's also what I'd like to formally dub as the "fallacy of the class III after picture," which basically is in line with especially  young female patients who suddenly look gorgeous after the advancement of the upper face leading us to falsely believe that all jaw surgeries result in such awesome beauty. Class III's seem to really look deformed before surgery and then look amazing after --at least all the female ones I've seen. So I guess it is a bit difficult to isolate how much her cheekbone area has improved as a result of the Lefort II. Though it is indeed indisputable that her lower orbital rim has improved considerably, and that is a very rare outcome. Agreed? Anyone?

Well folks I'm at the mayo clinic and had my consult with dr e e Keller. I'll say this it was worth the trip because I learned a few things. I'll have lots of info to share when I return home day after tomorrow. Teaser: for those concerned with under eye weakness or cheekbones this surgery will almost always leave a weakness if something is not done to augment it. The quadrangular Ledford one is the solution. The Ledford 2 quadrangular is even more dramatic and not too risky. Dr Keller gave me papers on both and also is open to doing either procedure. Patient satisfaction of the latter procedure is rated as excellent. Would be interesting to find more surgeons who did these procedures. Dr Keller invented the quad 1. More info to follow day after tomorrow.

I just had a TMJ surgery from Dr. Keller and his team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. It was my 7Th TMJ surgery, my first from him, him and his team of 9 Oral and Maxiofacial Docs are amazing! It was a 5 hour surgery with all 9 doctors in the OR. I am healing slowly buy surely, I would highly recommend him!!! He knows what he is doing, I should have gone to him after my 1st surgery, I guarantee, I wouldn't have needed 6 unsuccessfully TMJ surgeries

Hey Lazlo,

Sorry if this is a double post (I don't know where it went). If you don't mind me asking, have you picked a surgeon, yet? I ask because you have consulted with Keller (as have I), and I'm curious where you are at with everything. Thanks!

I just found this. Lazlo, you are not considering this anymore, or? Could I know why (like isn't it that effective etc.). Do you still have the papers? Would be cool if you'd answer. :)

I know a girl whose had more! TMJ surgery suck ass. Some day after the canon fodder cases are done it ill be decent. But not today. It's better than suicide I suppose. Wish you the best but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Just my grossly unqualified opinion.
