It's hard to tell the pics are so close. When you take selfies take them arms length away to avoid camera distortiom.
-
Do you have any befores?

Do you have any befores? And who were the surgeons?

Doctors who operated on me
Dr Guyuron (genio, initial 3 mm medpor malar implant, medpor 7 mm jaw implant, fore head lift, rhino, fat graft, chin lipo)
Dr Schende(8 mm medpor malar implant ,buccal fat removal, chin micro lipo)
Dr Tim Marten( Facelift, fat graft)

your results are un f**kin believable! amazing work!
-
Comparing the before and after its day and night. You look way better and tbh if I saw you on the street I wouldn't be Able to tell you had implants. Can you take a side profile photo?
Also did schende remove the original 3mm medlar implant and replace it with the 8mm implant? where are the implants only Malar or also the orbital rim?
-
Schendel stacked it over. He used Ramirez malar implants as orbital rims and malar.
-
Good results but why on a jaw surgery forum?
-
I'm glad you posted here, I was following your story on a board of which I am no longer a member so it's nice to be able to see the results of the Marten lift. You've had such a lot of surgery but to my eye you look infinitely improved but without looking at all 'done'. It's truly remarkable.
Are you happy with the results you achieved or are you planning more? Have you found a wife yet?
-
At first I was like, that's a crazy amount of work. You look normal, not especially handsome. Then I saw your before pic. Wow - that's insane! Really good transformation.
-
Can you give us a profile view?
-
The face lift made the biggest difference to your face. I think you look really great!
Your malar implants do not look unnatural at all. You can't even see them. God's honest truth.
-
Congratulations! You're vastly improved. BTW, prior to your surgeries were you aware of osteotomies like chin wing and lefort iii? They are kind off meant to achieve the same things you did with implants. How is your bite?

hey monterey, who did you the canthoplasty ?

I knew about lefort iii and bsso. Dr Schendel said my bite was class 1 and didn't need bsso. I thought the lefort iii was very risky and chose implants. I made have made a bad decision.

it is entirely possible that your molars have a class 1 relationship. You have a visible protrusion of your lower front teeth, however, and your mandible is super retrognathic. makes me wonder what schendel meant exactly, do you have a lateral x-ray of your skull by any chance ? i am not a doctor, but i think you would have benefited greatly from dental decompensation via extractions in your lower jaw followed by a bsso to advance the mandible.
-
OP, how is your diet and lifestyle?
-
Here is my dental xrays -> https://cdental.box.com/s/4io37kyqyegf0zcslg49 . These are after my first usrgery (genio+jaw implant + 3mm malar/orbital implant). I was over weight and lost 60 pounds. I eat lot of salads and also lot of indian, chinese food. I watch my salt content.
-
thanks for the xrays, your bite was/is class 1 with some incisor proclination but too little to mess it up entirely for jaw surgery. From your before pics I would have sworn to find a messed up bite in the xrays but now I think the course of action you took was the right one, congrats on the improvement.

i think theres a lot more that goes into fully developed faces than just jaw/bite. i mean my maxilla was in perfect poistion yet i had severly recessed cheeks and orbital rims. conventional wisdown says i should have had a messed up maxilla

Indeed, it's a very complicated triangulation of factors. But hey Earl you're one of the most brave and generous pioneers!
You follow and we lead! My goal is to have great cheekbones, and I will achieve my goal!!!

that why i dont think people like weston price, dr mew etc. there are many people who have jaws that are perfct and theyre still unattractvive. at the same time ive seen people with a few recesed features and theyre still good looking .

They are full of it because there are documented cases of malocclusion in prehistoric times, like Qafzeh 9 skull, 90000 years old (ninetythousand years old)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3835570/figure/pone-0080771-g001/
As you can see, severe asymmetry and cross and scissor bite, deviated midline. Would have needed a Bimax nowadays.
It is rumored that the cause was all the Mc Donalds Fastfood and lack of Falim Gum supplies.

"Modern" food consists of more than happy meals. Research indicates that these jaw deformity problems didn't become widespread until humans started to adapt agriculture: http://www.ucd.ie/news/2015/02FEB15/050215-Malocclusion-and-dental-crowding-arose-12000-years-ago-with-earliest-farmers-study-shows.html

I was over weight and lost 60 pounds.
Congrats. That is a huge accomplishment.
My suggestion is to try to tone yourself, probably via cardio exercise. I think this would actually change your face in a positive way. Also, are you getting proper sleep? You do not look well-rested, so I'd suggest focusing on getting sleep, too. This opinion is just based off the photo you posted.
I can't speak much about your original question of implants. I don't know anything about implants or how they should look.

even if it were true, you can have a perfect jaw and bit and still be unttractive. i highly doubt all those cavemen walked around looking like brad pitt

hahah lol
-
@ earl - lol ya youre right, but there were probably waaaaaaaaaay less ugly people 2000 years ago. I think the average person on the most part had a well developed face, and at that point it was specific features that made them attractive.
-
i wonder if apes recongize whether other apes are goodlooking or not. I mean when I see a wildlife documentary all the apes look pretty similar.
-
another thing if it really is food\enviroment why do people who have relatives with issues look like them. i mean if you have grea lookijg ancestors with no craniofacial issues and then boom you have them, i can hear th enviroment argument since you deviated from your genetic norm.
but in my case where i. have the exact same f@cked up headshapre, forehead jaw issues that everyone in my fathers family has. if it were enviroment why would we all have diff bad features not the same.

Your genes obviously influence what kind of impact that a modern diet will have on you. Obesity for example is strongly linked to certain genes: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/obesity-prevention-source/obesity-causes/genes-and-obesity/
A 2014 study found that consumption of fried food could interact with genes related to obesity, underscoring the importance of reducing fried food consumption in individuals genetically predisposed to obesity.
With that in mind I don't think it's far-fetched to consider that some of the genes that determine how we grow are affected by our diet.
