Title: Implants or bsso with class 1 bite?
Post by: TheDancingQueen on August 23, 2018, 05:55:06 PM
I found out I have a class 1 bite but my lower jaw is really recessed. I have around a 4mm overjet. Is a bsso still the best option or would I get better results with a jaw implant?

Jaw recession with a class I bite is usually indication of bimax recession. The best way to correct it is bimax surgery with counterclockwise rotation so that they can keep the bite mostly the same and advance the lower jaw enough to normalize the profile.

Implants will give you a bloated face, unless it's like 2-3 millimeter.

Are the risks worth it to go with bimax surgery? If my bite is fine are there any functional benefits with bimax? Wouldn't an implant or fillers be enough?

This. A couple of mm jawimplants usually looks not too unnatural. More mm and you'll get a bloated face.

Go with bimax dude. I rarely hear posts regretting going through bimax when it was indicated, I hear all the time about failed 'camouflage' procedures by people for whom bimax is indicated

The main reason I want to go with implants is because I can just go to any plastic surgeon here in Canada and get it done. I would have to travel to the US for cosmetic jaw surgery and I don't even know how to begin, if I need braces wouldn't the orthodontist have to be close to the surgeon?  I don't even know how or where to get cephs to bring to a consultation.
