Title: WHY NOT?
Post by: CoolStirfryBro on September 15, 2012, 08:13:18 AM
Why can't I get maxillary impaction and a lip lift to shorten the vertical height of my philtrum? Seriously I don't understand.

I want shorter 4mm horizontally across that part of my face, how will my smile look after (it's very c shaped now)?

There is like no information on this anywhere, most docs seem to follow a set of laws, don't think of anything new.

Because if you don't actually have maxillary excess removing bone from the maxilla will lead to insufficient skeletal support for the facial tissues. The maxilla effects more than just the lips.

But there has to be vertical excess somewhere in that region, what if it was right behind the columella, that's still part of the upper jaw?

Does long nasal height = longer piriform aperture = more nerves, or something? Why can't the nose be reduced too by moving the base upwards?
