Title: Grafting with teeth
Post by: molestrip on October 29, 2015, 10:07:34 AM
Most surgeons seem to want to remove wisdom teeth anyway for jaw surgery and some seem to do it during surgery itself. Teeth are mostly composed of the same materials that bone graft substitutes are and, as an added bonus, are also filled with the line of stem cells used to regenerate bone. Have any surgeons looked at grinding up teeth to graft instead of discarding them? Seems like it'd work very well and would avoid the morbidity of sampling from elsewhere in the mouth.
