Title: for A&G patients on doxycycline
Post by: treevernal on October 09, 2012, 11:59:41 AM
I start my meds next week and am a bit nervous about being on an antibiotic for so long.  How big is the dosage?  Is it something to be concerned about?  Is it a good idea to take yogurt infused with good bacteria while on it?

Why are you on it?  I wasn't told to take it.

It is used to help inflammation and heal any damage that may have occured to my arthritic tmjs along with the feldene.

I'm going to find out if I should be taking it as well. I've been taking Feldene but it gave me an ulcer. This is no reason to be alarmed because I was taking it first thing in the mornings on an empty stomach with a RedBull. I've since changed that habit and it should heal up.

Have you noticed any improvement with the Feldene?

I'm also on Clonazepam to help with clenching at nights. It acts as a nice sleep aid as well.

Lol with a redbull that made me smile.  I dont start it until next week but I hope to have less occasional soreness.  I dont have any pain otherwise tho.

Treevernal,

My prescribed dose of doxycycline is 100 mg per day.  Also on feldene and clonazepam.  Because I have had bleeding ulcers previously, I was also prescribed a medication to prevent more ulcers from these meds.

Hmm I was not prescribed clonazepam

it's just for jaw clenching. also the feldene/doxy/fish oil/multiivitman cocktail lol. pretty sure it is standard for most AG patients, minus the klonapin which really depends on the patient. i wonder if arnett/gunson have different thoughts on the importance of klonapin and doxy. any arnett patients prescribed klonapin pre-surgery?

I bought some probiotics to take while on doxy.  Not to be taken at the same time, of course :)
