A plastic surgeon (not a maxillofacial surgeon) said my chin is about 3 millimeters recessed (though it's probably actually around 5 mm). I also have bimaxillary protrusion (self-diagnosed but very obvious). I had braces as a teen about 8 years ago. I'm pretty sure my bite is Class I, but my profile resembles a Class II patient.
I'm within driving distance to Santa Barbara, so I was thinking about visiting Dr. Arnett for a consultation. $550 is not much to be assessed by a professional, and this is something I deeply care about. Is there any reason I should cancel?

Hard to say without pictures.

Go for it. His consultations are well worth the price from what others have written about them.

People with recessed chins will sometimes look like they have a bimax. In reality they just need lower jaw / chin advancement.
I could show you photoshops of celebrities I've made if you like. Receding the chin gives them a bimax look when they have forward grown faces (ante face)
