Title: Restore tooth cusps from grinding before jaw surgery?
Post by: terry947 on March 29, 2015, 08:50:54 PM
Since I was a child I've been grinding my teeth and I've noticed that my molars are pretty flat looking. Should I fix this before getting jaw surgery cuz atm my teeth don't lock in. If that makes sense.

Ask the surgeon. I have the same question, though my wear is more significant due to the open bite. A dentist told me to plan on fixing it afterwards so they know what bite to build them to. Shrug.

I dunno. Next surgeon I see I'll ask but I doubt they care about cusps that are worn out.

I feel like this should be addressed before jaw surgery so that the bite is perfect and held in place. Natural we should keep out jaw slightly in contact throughout the day and our cusps help lock our jaw together.
