Title: How to recognise if a surgeon really cares about our safety ?
Post by: Rico on May 05, 2015, 07:21:51 AM
I mean if he really knows that the risk of botched surgery is very minimal - he knows he can do it / he has done it many times succesfully ,
if he does not want to make us a guinea pig

I know, to ask about examples - he may show only the best results
to ask about the worst one ?  - hmmm ? a bit tricky question

I've seen here one or two posts, where a user says it's better to avoid a university hospital - really ?

any more sugestions ?

It's impossible but roughly speaking, you have reputation on your side. A few times I've put them on the spot. "If I were your son, what would you recommend" Hard to lie at that point.

I've asked it, it usually elicits a pause followed by a very carefully worded answer. It can be a useful tool when deployed at the right moment.
