Title: Could a genioplasty achieve this?
Post by: m9999 on June 11, 2015, 05:56:59 AM
Hi guys, I'm new here so forgive me if this is in the wrong section or something.

with guidelines:

Is a result like this achievable with just a genioplasty or does it require jaw work or is this unanswerable without x-rays/further investigation?

that looks like a centimetre of advancement. depending on your bite, this is only possible with a bonegraft + chin wing or jaw surgery (bsso).

I'm pretty sure my bite is fine but I guess I should get an x-ray just to confirm. Assuming my bite is fine what is the best option to go with?

You may end up with a huge step of in your mandible.  Good genios are conservative.

My chin was very recessed and now my chin is too strong, so yes it can be done. Doesn't make the rest of my lower jaw look strong though. It also stretches out my skin and makes me look abnormal.

The notch is visible in some lighting on one side.
