How do you stand up to someone who you know is belittling/try to assert dominance over you (yet it's disguised to all others as advice/tips meant to benefit you) without looking stubborn and not open to advice from genuine individuals (whose advice you have gratefully embraced)?
Keep in mind the individual is better than you at what they're advising on (you do want to improve) and they are well-liked in the group but for no reason they enjoy using you to appear as 'top dog' because you are easy-going.
What say you? Yes this is a situation I'm in socially (not work related) but I don't want to bog you down with details.

without details it's impossible to give you any advice.
I'd just smile to him and pretend i'd listen to him but i wouldnt care

It's a team sport I play on. I have been doing that but it hasn't stopped him.

continue like this.
How much better than you is he? Is there one attribute you've got better than him? If yes, concentrate on that and kill him
