Title: Is this the perfect lower jaw for a man? Ladies, please contribute
Post by: Lazlo on September 07, 2015, 11:24:09 AM
Hi guys, since many of us might be asking our surgeons to turn our bsso's, chin wing's and genioplasties in the service of improving our looks. There are a few pics I'm taking to my surgeon to give him/her an idea of what I want for my lower jaw, chin-wing and genioplasty. It may not be possible for the surgeon to replicate this, but possible to approximate and steer in the direction of. So I'd like you guys to chime in on what you think an attractive lower jaw is so I have my bases covered with pics to show my doc. There may be aesthetic aspects or possibilities I haven't considered!

Hhere are some examples --and I'm asking, is this the best there is?

Matter of aesthetic preferences. The jaws of those guys you posted don't look very appealing to me. There is too much of a transition from the jawline into the jaw angle for my likings.

I like this one (the jaw and the guy: )

triot, osteotomy,

you mean the above guys i posted have too sharp gonial angles. and then a very sharp wide chin. You like a more tapered, less segregated look? Correct? Feel free to post more pics for comparison.

Too robust.

Too robust.

It does illustrate quite well what the defining characteristics of masculinity is though. Aim for a look like this and be happy if you can get even halfway there.

I don't think there is a perfect jaw. It's whatever complements your facial structure and features. Accordingly, each race and ethnicity each have their own range of what type of jaw looks good on them.

yah i think we all have a good idea now.

i mean with jon kortajerena it's like what part of that guy isn't good looking? with the perfect skin and lip shape and teeth and hair and eyes it's like his jawline is his least interesting thing.

that wrestler looks f**king horrible, but yeah i see he's got a strong jaw, but too robust is right. lindberg looks a lot like ed skrein. --it's all good, i actually like my jaw and chin shape, i just need the whole kit and kaboodle brought forward.

I don't understand what needs to happen to get that "bump" at the ramus you see from the front. You see it very clearly in OP's pictures. Surely it can't be purely about low bodyfat or anything. It looks like hypertrophied masseter muscles that are just...genetic? Or do they stick out more because the jaw is grown wider/thicker?

Here are my favs for the ladies:

Julianne Moore
and Hilary Rhoda

I'd let them ride my jaw all night long.

you can see when you expand the pics Moore has some pretty bad dark triangles. I have almost as bad --but it makes sense for her age. Mine was cause by orthodontics. If any of you find ANY info on future treatments to regenerate that area please please tell me.

True.  But "I want to look like this guy" may be a show stopper when talking to a surgeon.  Using him as an example of what you consider good features should be OK, but may still set "unrealistic expectations, wacky patient" alarms.

God... these websites make me borderline suicidal.

Well listen there's a lot there that's within your control. Most imp. fact about all those guys is that they're stacked and ripped. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Not shredded but ripped.

Number 2 fact is perfect hair. Number 3 is jaw --okay yeah they all have great jaws, but I noticed they also all had perfect lips and nose shape. But yeah....ugh.....

God, I hate good looking people! lol
The 'convict' in the OP is ridiculously handsome. Tom Welling, too.

Lazlo,
I like the pics you posted, they have great jaw lines.  I agree with some others that you need to match your other features for the best outcome.  :)

Me too. That's the problem.
Lots of people seem to think that they can look like say, the convict in the OP with multiple surgeries. I think there's SO MANY things going that make him so handsome. Even just with his jawline alone. I remember I saw some program years ago on MTV about some guy getting loads of surgery to look like his favourite movie star. It was quite interesting, and he consulted with the expert surgeons and they were all analysing the models face and working out the various jaw surgeries etc this guy needed, and in theory, you could imagine that he'd look very similar after hearing the surgeons explain it all, but after the various surgeries, he just looked a little odd. It was like his skull was never meant to have a wide jaw for example, and he looked strange. It didn't fit his face. He also never got the 'sucked in' cheeks look he was after, as if even the surgeons weren't actually sure what created that look! I think they tried to do it with giving him bigger cheekbones and moving his jaws forward, but it made his face look really uneven.
I think you need to already have the features you desire, with surgery to enhance them. If you have a fairly weak/recessed skull in general, I think you can only hope for a little improvement and can forget about looking like Tom Welling with a huge chisled jaw and facial features.

^Agreed.

What we perceive as facial beauty and attractiveness literally comes down to just millimeters between our features. It's relational at it's core. Quality of features is secondary altho having healthy looking hair, perfect skin, etc. can "override" to an extent faces that are average/below average objectively. Or at least enhance them.
