To those who have had double jaw surgery, how long after surgery till you were allowed to chew and how did it feel? Were your muscles weak? Were your teeth sore? Did you find it difficult to chew? Thanks

My doc will not allow solid food diet so real chewing until 4 months post-op.
Soft foods are allowed at 2 months so I guess your chewing a bit then.
It felt normal by 4 months since your accustomed to using your teeth and jaws a bit by then.
No noticeable soreness or weakness as I recall.

My timeline, which I felt was relatively traditional, was 8 weeks soft food, then normal food (carefully) thereon afterwards.
Same went for exercise.

I'm 5 months post-op and I'm still not completely comfortable chewing. For example I will take the crust off of bread because it still gives me a hard time. I also can't open my jaw that wide and also my jaw still pops when chewing more rigid and hard stuff.

check your masseter muscle..how it looks. If it's symmetrical etc. I mean you do not need x-ray to check it.. It's visible when you open your mouth widely or do underpressure in mouth - i do not know how to describe this - to suck in your cheeks ;)
