Title: When advancing the maxilla forward and both jaws...
Post by: Picollo30 on March 01, 2016, 03:33:45 PM
how are the cheeks (malar region) and infra orbital region affected if they are affected at all?

And no, i'm not talking about a modified High Lefort 1 just a standard one.

I have malar hypoplasia and lack of infraorbital bone projection i was wondering if i look worse or better after surgery, and what can be done to mitigate that problem if its more noticeable.

Nothing changes physically.  Some people claim the cheeks and orbital region look more sunken because they are then comparatively less pronounced.  IMO, they either look good or bad and it's not a reason to reconsider advancing the jaws.  I.e. not advancing retrusive jaws because they help your retrusive cheeks look more defined doesn't make sense to me. Two bad =/= good.

There are plenty of before/afters I've seen that show this to some degree, and I think the afters look better always, despite the then-relatively deficient cheek area.
