Title: Sliding genioplasty question
Post by: Jilkster on August 28, 2016, 02:49:23 PM
Maybe a very foolish question, I haven't really looked into these things yet.

I read that a sliding genioplasty involves titanium plates and screws, but that those can be removed after a certain period of time, because the bones fuse together.

My question was, say hypothetically those are removed, is the facial skeleton the same as someone who would have never done a procedure, but just developed with a better chin? Or is it forever different, just functionally the same and aesthetically more pleasing from the outside?

Thanks!
