Title: Have I made a mistake getting my underbite corrected??
Post by: sarahxgx on May 11, 2013, 04:08:28 AM
Hi everyone! My name is Sarah, 21 and just had my underbite surgery after waiting almost 10 years for it. I always thought I would be delighted with the results as I hated my profile (my chin was too big). But now it seems like I have no chin at all and I keep getting these horrible "did I make a mistake" thoughts.
I know I'm only on day 5 and the swelling is still really bad, especially in my lips but most people are usually delighted with their results even with swelling.

Here's me before, you can see my face was very long and I had a bad underbite:

Here's me after on day 3:

And now on day 5 (swelling considerably worse.)

I know Ive always hated my chin but now I feel as if I've lost a huge part of me. If you guys could be honest and give me your opinions that would be great! Thanks

Hi, I wouldn't worry too much about your results until all the swelling has gone down. Your chin is likely to get stronger as the swelling goes down and maybe you will be happier then. I think you are just worried about having such a big change, and obviously you are not used to a face that looks like that.

Personally speaking I think you look better now, even with the swelling. I'm a man and to me your face seems more attractive/cuter after surgery. Give it a few weeks and you will probably be very pleased.

5 days? LOL.

your swelling is severe, id wait at least 8 or 9 weeks in your case before asking questions. everything looks fine from where you r at this stage.

Your profile already looks good despite swelling and you have great features besides your jaw, I think your result will be good

No you did not make a mistake, you're going to look friggin amazing. You have great features and once the swelling goes down this will really bring you together. Consider yourself VERY fortunate since this surgery is such a crapshoot. You had a very recessed midface before and this will make you gorgeous. If when the swelling is down and you find you want a bit of a stronger chin then you can always have a genio that's NO BIG DEAL. Congratulations.
