Title: Downgrafting
Post by: jawregret on December 01, 2016, 08:56:59 PM
Does anyone know what kind of effects can be seen from downgrafting?

-Changes to the nose? (Wider, thinner, same?)
-Does an X mm downgraft translate to X mm of extra tooth show?
-Does the lip follow the graft (thus increasing philtrum/lip length and covering more teeth)?
-Does a downgraft make your lower jaw rotate backwards?

1. Same.
2. Yes.
3. Philtrum/lip length remains unchanged.
4. A posterior downgraft rotates the lower jaw forward, an anterior downgraft rotates it backwards, and an overall downgraft is neutral.

Thanks for your response.

It's just that I often see noses get wide following impaction or forward movement, as well as being upturned.

I just wondered if a downgraft could possibly do the opposite...
