Title: BSSO cut

Hi all,

Is it possible to identify which BSSO cut was made on the mandible? Apparently there are 3 different cuts: one higher up, one mid-way, and one more anterior along the border. I had my surgery a few weeks ago and want to see if I’d still qualify for a chin wing later on down the road.

Apparently a big potential restriction is the traditional BSSO cut, although it wouldn’t guarantee a CW couldn’t be performed, it just means it’s very unlikely. That can only be officially determined after a cone beam scan is done 6 months to a year after jaw surgery, as per the European surgeons I spoke to who do CWs.

I’ll upload my post-op ceph if someone is able to pinpoint where the cut was made...

Having looked at your ceph, I'm pretty sure you had a normal cut like this.
