Title: Should I be trying to build muscle on my neck of I have a narrow airway?
Post by: TheDancingQueen on February 10, 2020, 07:55:31 PM
I have a very skinny neck and an extremely narrow airway. Should I not even consider lifting to increase the thickness of my neck? I assume it would make the airway narrower and would cause sleep apnea

Unless you're doing neck curls and extensions you're not going to build enough muscle on your neck to make a difference.  You should worry more about weight gain.

I mean if you actually manage to get significant hypertrophy in your sternocleidomastoid muscles then yeah there’s a chance it could constrict you’re airway. You can always let them atrophy if so

I have a narrow airway and after doing neck extensions weekly, I have seen growth in my neck but not a difference to my breathing/airway so you should be fine.
