Title: Does the mentalis have to be resuspended for chin wings?
Post by: mediumdrinkofwater on August 13, 2022, 04:55:01 AM
Does the mentalis muscle have to be resuspended during a chin wing procedure? I know it's a must for genio and chin implants, but I thought it might not be necessary for chin wings since the cut is very different. Just curious

Although the BONE cut is different for a chin wing, the SOFT TISSUE incision INSIDE THE MOUTH to get to the chin bone is probably similar to that of a genio, in which case, they might have to 'de-glove' the mentalis muscle from the bone to perform the surgery and re-suspend.

I don't have a definitive answer to your question. But since your posting history reflects that you already had a chin wing, you could ask the doctor this question.
