Title: What makes a good jawline? Very confused
Post by: kenfernald777 on November 28, 2025, 04:42:25 PM
I’m trying to understand what makes some jawlines look much longer than others and how these jawlines would look like under a CEPH x-ray.

For example, I attached two pictures (one of a model, one of a picture which people would assume a "bad" jawline). Besides body fat differences, his lower jaw looks noticeably longer.

When I say “jawline,” I mean specifically the lower jaw. Is that appearance mainly because of:

The length of the mandible itself?
The positioning (forward projection, rotation)?
Or a combination of both?

And if someone wanted to achieve a longer-looking jawline through surgery, which procedures typically address that? Is it sliding genioplasty, mandibular advancement, implants, or something else?

Would really appreciate some clarification on what makes that “long” look possible and what surgeries are used to achieve it.
