Hello all,
I am 20M. I recently went to two orthos (airway ortho & normal) which recommended me two different things:
The airway one told me to go for expansion thru custom MARPE + clear aligners to bring the lower jaw forward to fix my overbite & any asymmetries (~$22k). Insurance doesnt cover this
The normal one told me to do the braces + jaw surgery route, where braces align the teeth and jaw surgery pulls the lower jaw forward (~$35-40k). Insurance covers $2k
I am not sure what is best in my scenario, I have a recessed maxilla, somewhat of a narrow palette, asymmetry, crossbite and overbite. I dont have any real functional issues like sleep apnea, so this would be mostly aesthetic reasons with the functional benefits being my fixed overbite and symmetry
I live in the DC area
What are your thoughts? Pics attached. Thank you

Based on your overjet, you might be able to get away with lower jaw only plus a genio and still get a nice improvement. Although, I don't know about the asymmetry in that scenario. I'd consult with a couple more surgeons until a consensus arises.

Do you know of any surgeons in the DC area?
