I posted a while back about having a recessed maxilla. However my teeth did fit together. After consulting with quite a few surgeons, they told me that I was actually a class III skeletally and that my teeth fit but my maxilla pushed my lower jaw downwards and the joint was actually rotated backwards and down. My natural jaw position was much more forward and they believed that the surgery was medically necessary (future tmj wear + airway). Going to get braces soon but still do not know when my op date will be. Proposed movements are maxillary impaction + advancement

Good luck on your journey. I had my surgery three weeks ago and I am doing great. I am so glad I had this done. Should have done it sooner.
