Surgery Tommorow Nervous!!!
« on: March 08, 2015, 12:10:23 PM »
I have jaw surgery to correct an overbite Im pretty sure they only move the lower jaw for this, my overbite is 9mm from last time I heard. I am scared of the fact that I will wake up not being able to breathe and having the catheter pulled it out sounds very painful anyone have any experiences with this

you'll be fine, thousands of people get jaw surgery every year not to mention the surgeon does 100's of them every year. You'll be in good hands! Don't stress!

You'll be fine and I also worried about breathing after.  When I woke up, I didnt even think about that and everything was fine. Its okay to be nervous though. I know I was, but the day of I tried not to stress myself too much. You'll do great!!

This :)

I wouldn't stress it, i'm hardly one to talk since i've never had it but you will probably be 1 of 3 or more jaw surgeries they do in a single day.

As for the catheter - do you need one? How long did they say the surgery would take?

I didn't have one.  Maybe because the surgery was short -1.5 hours.

About 80 hours post op, swelling is not too bad now hopefully it goes down main issue is the breathing and sleeping. Trying to eat as much as possible and lots of water is it is a good idea to shower and my surgeon told me if i want to eat soft foods i can but have to take elastics off then clean my teeth then put them back on how hard is it getting them back on?
